Jack Penland, Board Member

Jack Penland is the owner of ComputerPIX, LLC, an Internet content creation company supplying web sites and material for a broad range of groups and individuals. He considers now to be the age of story-tellers, the old rules of identifying and telling real stories about real people combine with today's new story-telling tools, make for powerful marketing.

Before starting ComputerPIX, LLC, he was News Director for ScienCentral News, supplying science video for broadcast and education. The company brought forth the audatious idea that short news-style stories based upon recently-published peer-reviewed research could attract viewers and find a home in local newscasts.

From that has grown his disciplined story-telling approach that concludes genuine stories, even complex ones, if told well, and respects the viewer's time can survive in today's "sound-bite world." He considers now to be the age of story-tellers.

Penland also was a producer for ABSAT, a division of ABC News assisting ABC television affilates around the country cover stories of national an international interest. He has been both Managing Editor and Executive Producer for KTVK-TV, Phoenix, earning regional Emmys for live coverage of breaking news. He started in radio, where he eventually was News Director for KTAR NewsRadio, Phoenix.

Sell holds a Bachelor of Sciencedegree in Radio and Television from Northern Arizona University.

He has served on the Ahwatukee Foothills Planning Committee, a citizen review board for new development in a fast-growing area of Phoenix, and is past president of the Phoenix Press Club and former board member of the Freeland, Washington Chamber of Commerce.
